Locked out of Outlook

Hi

I use Outlook Express. I just visited the BT site to change my password but gave up because there's no clarity about what system I'm on (Yahoo/BT). I changed nothing. Now when I open  Outlook a dialogue box comes up asking for userrname my username and  password. Whatever I enter  it won't let me open Outlook.  The server no longer connects.

Which username and password does it want? I've tried everything with no success.

It doesn't matter whether you are on BTYahoo or BT Mail, the settings are the same for both.

Server is mail.btinternet.com

Incoming Port is 993 and SSL selected for IMAP or 995 and SSL selected for POP3

Outgoing Port is 465 and SSL selected 'authentication required' ticked

Username and password are your full email address and password.

You have possibly been moved to the new BT mail system and were previously on BTYahoo but using Yahoo settings which no longer work.

Thanks. I eventually solved the problem but I don't know how or why it arose. I just kept pressing buttons like a monkey. I've never been able to understand the BT system and I've been using it for decades.  I assume I'm just too stupid.
