I have not been a BT broadband customer for about 15 years but was permitted to keep the account after discussing with BT because the original email set up was with BT Yahoo
That would only be the case now, if you access the account using webmail, any other form of access will no longer work.
Its also possible that the account has now been deleted.
Unless you have been paying £7.50/m to keep it, it will have been deleted.
There was no such fee when I changed from BT. I was concerned at the time but discussions permitted continued use, although I was no longer a BT customer, as my original email had been created with BT Yahoo.
BT are deleting without notice email accounts that are no longer part of a BT Broadband package or being paid for through a BT Premium email account.
You could try contacting the BT Premium email team to see if they can re-instate the account if you take out a BTPremium email subscription.
Call them on 0808 100 6778
Due to staff shortages with the ongoing crisis the lines may be very busy so you may have to keep trying.
Spoke to a nice chap called Andy who says the email address remains active as it was originally created with BT Yahoo. However, as I cannot access it, BT will need to conduct checks, which may take up to 7 days, to to see if it expired early this morning.
Thank you for the community help.
Presumably he is doing that or is going to action for that to be done for you?
Keep the thread updated and if there are any problems post back.
