Meetings invites disappearing

Hi,

For a long time now, every time I receive a Zoom or Teams meeting invite and click 'Accept' the system deletes the invite. I have to then go and retrieve it from my Trash folder and restore it to my Inbox.

As if that wasn't bad enough, I had a worrying new development today. I was apparently sent a meeting invite and the sender received confirmation of attendance from me. But I never actually received the invite at all - it's nowhere to be seen, even in Trash or Spam folders - so I didn't respond to it in any way.

Has anyone else had this? Does anyone know how to fix it please?

Re: Meetings invites disappearing

If this is only happening with Zoom or Teams invite emails it sounds like it is something to do with with settings on those systems or on your device.

How do you access your email. Is it using a web browser (webmail) on a device or are you using an email client/app on a computer or mobile device or a combination of both?

Could somebody else have access to your devices whether with or without your permission and are deleting the invites?

Re: Meetings invites disappearing

Thanks for the reply. I always do meetings (and invite responses) via my desktop web browser, but I've just checked and actually that missing meeting does show up when I access my email from my mobile. Why would it not show up on my PC? And why would the sender receive an attendance confirmation from me when I've not clicked on anything?

Re: Meetings invites disappearing

It could be that your mobile is set up as a POP3 account and the box to "leave a copy on the server" has not been ticked in the settings.

This would mean that after your mobile has "fetched" the email from the BT servers it deletes it from the server and this would mean that the email is then "missing" when you go to view it on the PC via a web browser.

As regards the attendance confirmation I have no idea unless it automatically sends a confirmation when the invite has been opened or as I said, has somebody got access to one or other of your devices and is "messing" with you.

Re: Meetings invites disappearing

Thanks - the issue is definitely not one of someone having access to my PC and messing with it (or at least not in my household). Could I have been hacked?

Regarding the POP3 account, if that is the case with my mobile how do I check what's happening and get the right box ticked?

Re: Meetings invites disappearing

If it is the case, you can either leave it as POP3 and tick the option to leave a copy of the message on the server on the mail app you are using, or delete the account and recreate it as IMAP

You can't change from POP3 to IMAP on the fly

Just checked my mobile - it says it's IMAP

Re: Meetings invites disappearing

An IMAP email set up replicates what is on the BT server so if you see the invites on your mobile it means they are on the BT server and you should be able to see them in the same folder on both devices.

If they were deleted on one device they would be deleted on the other device and not be able to be viewed except in the trash folder and if they were deleted from there you would not see them on either device.

You could have been hacked but unless it is somebody who doesn't want you to attend the meetings there is nothing being gained unless you have noticed other things having happened with your bank account etc.
