Missing emails from webmail

Go to solution

There are numerous posts about this issue.

AFAIK BT promises that emails should be available on webmail for up to six years.

In my case, they only go back two months and drop off the bottom every day.

What is going on and what is BT doing about it?

Re: Emails Disappeared from Inbox

Go to solution

There are a number of posts about this issue.

It's happening to me.

If BT promises emails will stay on webmail for six years and the reality is they only remain for two months are they in breach of contract?

And what are they doing to remedy the issue, if anything?

Exactly the same thing is happening to my emails in two of my three BT webmail inboxes. (I have three BT mail accounts).

They drop off the bottom one day at a time.

Four days ago when i first reported it they went back to 09/02/23.

Now, four days later they only go back to 13/02/23.

What happened to BT's pledge that emails remain on webmail for up to six years?

Is there maybe a setting in webmail that I can change to see older emails?

Or are they irretrievably lost? And, if so, why?

I have moved your multiple posts about the same problem onto your own thread because posting in multiple threads causes confusion when threads are being answered. It also ensures that answers on the thread are for the correct person.

How do you access your email account, is it only by using webmail or do you also use an email client/app?

What devices do you use the access your email account?

Re: emails older than 2 months

I check them on webmail and on my Iphone and on my Ipad and I download them to Windows Live Mail on my PC.

So I have them on my PC but, theoretically, they also remain on webmail - which is the way I need and want it to be - unless I delete them from webmail myself.

PS:  Thanks and understood re grouping all my posts about this issue together.

Check the settings of your email apps, not webmail, that you have the box " leave a copy on the server"  is ticked and that there is not an entry/ tick in the box "delete afer xxx days"

You have cracked it and you are, indeed,  a sage!

The box saying "remove from server" was ticked and set at 50 days.

I have no idea how that happened - but then I am not a sage....rather the contrary, it would seem.

Presumably the deleted webmail emails cannot be retrieved?

...but many thanks for your help, in any case.

If not on webmail they are gone and can not be recovered.

Ok...so, at least, the problem is solved going forward.

I really don't know why, or how, that 50-days box was ticked.

But, at least, the main mystery is solved.

Many thanks again.
