On the 3rd August I discovered of the several hundred folders that I had on Outlook Express, 179 folders were empty of several thousand files. I have registered a complaint as the files contained legal documentation going back ten years. Several BT employees have rung making suggestion including the BT Yahoo recovery link, but this did work. I have spoken to Outlook Express without sucsess, they said it was BT's fault. I have had my PC examined to see if there is anything hidden - no luck. I wrote to the BT CEO - no reply. I just want to know as to where my files have gone to. Any suggestions.
Hi @clementmike welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm really sorry to see you've lost your emails, did you login to the web version of BT Mail to see if the emails are in there after putting through the recovery request?
Also were the emails stored locally on your computer within those files or where they also left on the server?

The files should be stored on your computer as .dbx files, have you searched for them?
They should also be on the latest backup you took of your PC.
No trace of any .dbx files. Drats.
BT said they would do a search on their server, but they never got back to me on that topic. Another guy took over my PC and did a search, so he said, but he looked where I had looked.
Another BT guy told me that they had had previous reports of lost files.
Have you checked your backups from before the deletion?

If your inbox is still visible in Outlook Express there should be a file inbox.dbx on your computer.
