I'm suddenly having trouble with BT Yahoo disposable address creation. I appreciate that BT Mail has changed but BT Yahoo mail hasn't as far as I know. I am definitely on BT Yahoo Mail - logo below to clear up any doubts.
I have used disposable addresses for many years in the format email@example.com with no problems.
Today, I tried to create a new disposable address and the yahoo domain has changed from yahoo.CO.UK to yahoo.COM (See image below)
I was able to create the new address and it successfully appeared in my list of disposables. However, when I tested it by mailing it from my main bt mail account, the Yahoo MAILER-DAEMON reported that there was no Yahoo account with that name. Such tests have always worked happily on other disposables.
I tried to send to the address again in both forms firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com and both attempts failed.
The issue appears to be that the Yahoo domain has changed from ".co.uk" to ".com" but I cannot manually edit that portion of the new address in the window shown below.
My existing yahoo.co.uk domain disposables still work as normal as far as I can tell.
Has anyone else noticed the problem? - and are there any suggestions as to a solution please?
Solved! Go to Solution.
A bit more info . . . . . Bizarrely, the new "@yahoo.com" disposables can send email successfully - its just receiving mail that doesn't work for them.
This seems to confirm that it's a fault - not a deliberate withdrawal of service by BT.
Any ideas, folks??
Successfully sent outgoing mail to main BT account
Failed to receive incoming mail from main BT account
I have also noticed exactly this.
All previously created disposable addresses still work though.
I've got the same issue on my Yahoo Mail account (yahoo.co.uk)
The disposable email address only works with in Yahoo Mail. It cannot send or recieve mail externally
@jackoson Thanks for that. Sorry you've got grief too - but it's good not to be alone in this !
@SmellyPants That's interesting. If I understand you correctly, your dedicated Yahoo mail account has dispposable addresses which are also misbehaving in a similar way.
As I only have access to Yahoo by proxy through BT, I have no effective access to Yahoo Cust Svce. Not sure if they could help?
A quick thought - Maybe the issue has been caused by a Yahoo policy change (or bug) and BT has just been caught up in the after effects?
@WhiskyWerrington Yes that's what I was trying to say sorry for any confusion.
Yep also thinking that BT mail which AFAIK is backed straight on to Yahoo Mail has been affected by a Yahoo change.
They started limiting disposable addresses before Christmas possibly it's something to do with this (Iwas close to the max)?Getting a hold of customer support appears to be a but of a challenge though 😞
I agree CS is sometimes tricky. Historically, whenever I've contacted BT about any BT Yahoo disposable problem (there have been a couple), BT seem not to have understood that they offer Yahoo addresses as part of the BT service. The moment Yahoo is mentioned I've been knocked back and told to speak to Yahoo CS.
Of course, in fairness, Yahoo could never help - my contract was with BT. Going round in circles springs to mind and I'm not looking forward to going through all that again :smileyfrustrated
