Another tool that will block adverts further down the system, is well worth having for other reasons - and it is a HOSTS file, and an associated hosts file manager, HOSTSMAN. I update my HOSTS file with a list provided by "microsoft valued professionals" (MVPs) and it basically blocks a whole raft of nasty IP addresses at source.

If you search for "hostsman" or "hosts file" or "MVPS hosts file" in a search engine you will find plenty of info. Careful which sites you visit as they aren't all kosher. Not sure if I'm allowed to give direct links so I won't.

Or - in the Firefox browser, the addon Adblock Plus does the job really well. Add the addon NoScript and you have a very safe browsing environment but one you have to configure a bit.

Not only do you save bandwidth, but you are protected from nasty driveby attacks from infected malware hosting ad networks. That's getting quite common.
