Pictures inside an email body will not send

Here's another strange BT email warning whilst trying to send a picture inside the body of the email:

"The message cannot be saved because the body exceeds 300KB characters"

The picture will only send as an attachment

Sent using others clients successfully. It was received into BT mail as a picture inside the email body.

Weird!!!!

Cheers.

Mark

Re: Pictures inside an email body will not send

The message is telling you what the problem is. The picture must be too big and is exceeding the size that can be embedded into the email. You will need to make it smaller or just send it as an attachment.

Re: Pictures inside an email body will not send

Thanks, but I had already said that. I was only reporting it as a snag as, let's be honest, 500kB is small! Other clients can handle it and the new improved BT MAIL should be able to too!!! Just saying, but appreciate your reply.

Re: Pictures inside an email body will not send

It is not a snag. It has been designed that way. BT are looking at possibly increasing the size that can be embedded but meantime if you want to send larger you will need to use the attachment facility or as you have already found out, an email client.

See link about problems and fixes.

"New issues we are looking at

  • Inline images failing – there is a limit of 300KB for inline images, anything larger needs to be attached as an attachment. We are looking at this limit to see whether it can be increased and are also looking at improving how this works
  • Inline images scaling issue – when an image is embedded using local image function in composing into the body of an email (not attachment), then it is not scaled properly.  We are investigating this issue"

Re: Pictures inside an email body will not send

There seems to be a problem embedding any file into an email in the new system, it's not long ago that someone used this forum to seek advice after trying unsuccessfully to embed a word document
