Ports for E Mail

I use BTYahoo, but obtain results via Thunderbird with Incoming Port set to 993 & Outgoing to 465

The Security type is set to SSL/TLS.

I now wish to set up E Mail on a Huawei Tablet do I use the same Port settings?

Re: Ports for E Mail

Yes. Incoming and outgoing server should both be mail.btinternet.com

Re: Ports for E Mail

The 'yes' was in response to the question. The server information was supplementary information.

Re: Ports for E Mail

Thanks for clarification

BUT:-

When I set the "Incoming" Port on the Huawei to 993, it does not accept this & reverts to 995.

Why?

Also is this a problem?

Re: Ports for E Mail

Port 995 is POP3, set up the account as IMAP and it should automatically select 993.

Re: Ports for E Mail

Just a great shame that I can't find IMAP on the Huawei Tablet.

Looked at Google but no help!

Re: Ports for E Mail

When setting up the email account select manual set up.

If it does not offer that option just enter a false email address and or password and the set up will fail and then it will offer you the manual option.

Once you have the option selct IMAP

Re: Ports for E Mail

Have tried to set up a new account using false e mail/password.

Huawei rejects this.

Also I've tried to set up a new account with my e mail address & Password, but Huawei, says it's duplicate a/c & will not let me go any further.

The original account was set up by another person, who I think set it as a POP account which is incorrect (when viewed against my settings in Thunderbird)

Seems logical that I should just be able to modify the Huawei a/c from POP to Imap but can't see how, also google does not advise.

Any ideas?

Re: Ports for E Mail

When it rejects it, it should give the option to set it up manually at the foot of the screen.

You can not swap from POP3 to IMAP on the fly.

If you already have your email account set up you will need to delete it from the device first before trying to set it up again as an IMAP account.
