In the top right hand corner of the screen is a cogwheel symbol labelled settings. Click on that and then at the bottom of the pop up that opens click 'more settings'. At the bottom left of the screen that opens click on 'switch to basic mail'.

This is only applicable to BTYahoo mail not BTMail.

There is a cogwheel, but it is called tools

When I click on it does not lead in any way to settings or more settings

My computer runs on windows 10

I believe that there are two or three versions of BT, my one's header looks like
