Register an email address

I have tried registering an email account  for my wife @btinternet.com but when I try to register her name@btinternet.com  I get a message stating that address is already taken. Since she has quite a distinctive name  I  find this almost impossible. I have tried sending email to her rejected. email address @btinternet.com and I receive messages stating the email  address cannot be found or does not exist. How can I get it registered or confirmed bt BT ? Any one know what this is ?

Re: Register an email address

Are you currently a BT broadband customer or paying for Premium mail? If neither, your mail account will have been downgraded to Basic Mail and will not be possible to create new email addresses.

As an aside, I can't think why anyone would willingly create a new BT email address when there are far better free alternatives that are transportable if changing ISP.

Re: Register an email address

Thanks for the reply, yes I am a BT  broadband customer and I am able to register upto 11 additional addresses.  I have managed to register @btinternet.com address for my wife using a full stop in her name, she does not like this address but it worked with btinternet.

However, as you mentioned there are better alternatives, could you  plead recommend one or three ?? I am unhappy with BT because they are closing Btcloud at the end of October and I am having difficulty transferring my files stored there.

Thanks again for your help.

Re: Register an email address

Do you have another BT email address or is it the first one you have tried to set up?

If you do not already have a BT email address you will not be able to set up any new ones as BT have removed the option to do that.

EDIT: I have re read your post and see that you have already set up an email address for her albeit she does not wish to use it so please ignore the above.
