Solved ... I think! Deleted the account in Mac mail and re installed it and everything seems to be ok. However I don't see it listed in "Internet Accounts" in Mac settings. A question for Mac users I think.
Edit: now see it in BTInternet Mail account. Well it would be wouldn't it? Doh!
