As directed by BT I amended the settings on 19th May 2020 for my email account to reflect the move of service away from BT Yahoo to BT Internet. BT confirmed that my settings had been updated successfully in a mail to me sent 19th May 2020.
Since then two things have not worked as it did previously:
a) Each time I log in to Outlook I receive the following message:
'The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. The target principal name is incorrect'.
The certificate can be viewed but will not save.
The message gives the options to continue using this server Yes / No.
How do I remove this message?
b) My sent mails are no longer being saved in my sent mail box. I have sent test messages to myself so am confident that they are being sent but cannot retrieve them.
Has anyone else seen these issues or have suggestions on how to address?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Are you sure you have amended the settings in accordance with these instructions. Particularly in regard to the SSL settings and not to use SPA .
Thanks for looking at my query licquorice - sadly the guidance notes have only served to confuse matters further. I have reviewed the settings in line with the notes but still get the original message re the Security Certificate plus now a further message advising that I can't send emails t all!
Pictures of these messages plus one of the Security Certificate details attached. (And confirming that I have downloaded this but to no effect). Also attaching a picture of the server settings.
Would welcome any further guidance that you can give.
Thanks!

The encryption type is shown as SSL/TLS, what are the other options? I use Outlook 2010 and SSL and TLS are separate options.
Hi @guylingford and welcome.
Sorry you’re having problems with your email security certificate. I don’t think the community will be able to resolve this for you so I’ve dropped you a private message. Please reply with the details and I’ll look into this for you.
Cheers
David
Meanwhile, it might be a good idea to remove references to your personal email account as this is a public forum!
Thanks for spotting this Carlusha and saving me from myself!
