Sending mail from outl;ook and iphone unreliable

I use IMAP and SMTP from Winmail iphone, ipad and outlook and in the last few days while receiving email is fine sending works only intermittently. On the PC the username and password window keeps appearing and the error that the username and password are rejected comes up. Then suddenly it will happily send messages and then it fails again.

Any ideas why this is happening and what I might do about it??

I'm on a different broadband provider but as far as I know nothing has changed.

I am paying for premium email, I have changed nothing and it's been wholly reliable until this week.

Well this turned out to be a lulu. I eventually changed my password and found I could send from my phone on 4G but not on wifi. I then switched off everything in the house and left it for half an hour and when I rebooted everything it worked. So for some reason SMTP server had taken exception to my IP address and a forced change of IP address  fixed it. Bizarre....

Probably not so much taking exception to your IP address as picking up a different machine in the server farm.
