Don't want to sound patronising but are you sure you are using the correct log on and password details.

Can you log onto your email from here https://signin1.bt.com/login/emailloginform

Absolutely sure.  No problem from the PC.

I'm still not sure if you trying to connect using a browser or trying to configure a mail app.

The settings that I use on an Android phone with the onboard email client are:

Password: xxxxxxxx

POP3 or IMAP Server: mail.btinternet.com

Security: SSL

Port: 995 or 993 if IMAP

Delete from server: Up to you

Outgoing:

SMTP Server: mail.btinternet.com

Security type: SSL

Port: 465

Require Sign in (Tick box)

User Name: xxxxx@btinternet.com

Password:xxxxxxx

Thanks all.

Marked as solved.  All working as it should be.

I would liked to have given two solutions.  @licquorice Thank you for your help, it was really appreciated, I was really having problems.

Its strange how I could not even get into btinternet from the BT.Com site but even thats working now.

What was the issue please ? Or did it suddenly just work ? The latter scenario seems to just happen after a spell of nothing it seems for some people. Occasionally the act of logging in via webmail kickstarts activity via pop/imap mail clients.

@Andy_N

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.

I tried to log on via BT.Com, clicked email, it started to load and then came back with the error, 'This application is having trouble connecting to the server'. Every time I tried to set up an account on the phone was rejected with incorrect log in information when I knew it was correct.

Strange how I had connection problems, left it overnight and it was fine the next day.
