Why do my email clients no longer send?

Hi.

Can anyone help with this? I can receive fine with OE classic and Thunderbird, but cannot send emails from them. I can send from BT webmail but need to use clients and I don't like webmail. I have reconfigured the accounts, removed and replaced them, and removed andreistalled and/or updated the clients. I use pop/smtp as I don't like IMAP either- I prefer everything to just come in to my client inbox, and sort/store it myself in my folders.

This started happening last year, on and off, and coincided with internet outages, which AFAIK are now fixed, but for 3 weeks now, soild fail to send. Here is an error msg--

BT don't want to know as webmail is working to send and are blaming the 2 clients I use. Not the case! Any help most welcome!! TIA.

Please either delete the whole log or edit out all the email addresses it contains, this is a public forum.

BT thinks your mail is spam, does it contain links?

Re: Why do my email clients no longer send?

That's just a link to T&C page, with a link buried in it somewhere for settings, which I know off by heart and have done to death, so not useful sorry. Besides, I have been over it loads of times and none of the settings when used will let me send.

Re: Why do my email clients no longer send?

One does,, in the log is a link to OE Classic homepage, but this never caused a problem until recently (if that is the problem of course). I send links from time to time like anyone does, so not sure that's the problem- I have had my scanners on it for malware and viruses and all clear so far. Thunderbird IIRC does not self promote with links? If that is the cause, how to correct it? Tried other clients but don't like the feel of them, OE Classic is very much like Outlook Express, and is all i need.

Hi. The moderators have already removed the addresses (it shows edited by mod).

Can you say if you're using a VPN (or are not in the UK)?

I would add that I have had the level2 team on it by remote assistance and they can't help.

Re: Why do my email clients no longer send?

Thanx mods!
I'm in the UK and not using a vpn. I can send a link in mail via BT webmail OK, I too thought it was something the servers don't like such as that, but would that not affect the webmail too? I admit to being stumped, and grumpy......

Re: Why do my email clients no longer send?

Webmail will be sending via different servers to the SMTP server. and are probably less aggressive with regard to spam.

Try stripping out the links and see if the mails send ok.
