For a while now have been unable to access mail via my old Galaxy J1 mini. Read the posts & changed the settings for IMAP etc as suggested for both incoming & outgoing, ports are correct according to posts but still won't do anything. Obviously worked fine under Yahoo but now nothing. I see that BT are rolling out their email app but can't find it in the Play store?
are you an existing bt broadband customer or are you on premium email?
the BT Mail app only works if you have been changed from BTYAHOO to the new BT Mail
BT Broadband for years now & same for email but not premium though. Still on ver 2.18.2 & still a few issues with the email & these have been noted on the forum.
Just not sure why the old email app, even when incoming/outgoing server settings have been changed to the recommended, still won't work.
Obviously if I go the long way about it on the BT sim mobile & log in via web I can still access but not with the installed email app anymore.
If your email has been migrated to new BT MAIL then only the new BT mail app will work

That is not correct.
BTMail should work with any of the email apps that are available for your device with the exception of the Yahoo email app which is fixed to the Yahoo servers.
Can you check that your email app has ALL the correct settings as per this link.

sorry but in reply to the OP post ' Just not sure why the old email app, even when incoming/outgoing server settings have been changed to the recommended, still won't work.' my reply was correct there was no inference that it was the only mail app that would work only that you need to use new BT mail app and not the old Yahoo version
That is not how your reply reads. It appears that you are stating BTMail will only work on the BT Mail app.
The OP did not state he was using the Yahoo app. He stated he was using the Yahoo settings and changed them. This would infer that he not using the Yahoo app and was using some other app as the Yahoo app settings as far as I am aware can not be changed.
sorry but we just need to disagree then
Can you point out where the OP stated he was using the Yahoo app which would validate your reply?
Has all the settings as listed & is the standard app installed on the Samsung phone. Obviously being an old phone is running Android 5.1.1
