email verification

trying to install mail onto apple macbook constant having to verify password it just goes in a loop cannot verify account or password. on my phone it loads but will not send mail only recieve

Check you are using the correct settings as per this link.

In your email client/apps settings in the outgoing server settings, if it asks for the username and password do not use the setting "use same as incoming". Enter your username and password manually.

Also make sure that your password does not have any special characters. BT are aware that the £  and ¬ (logical NOT) character are accepted by their set and change password screens, passwords containing these characters will work with webmail and BTID logins, however because these characters are not part of the US ASCII character set, they will typically not work with IMAP email clients (this is a limitation of the IMAP specifications). BT will be addressing this in an upcoming change to their password screens.

If you are using an icloud.com email address, I had the same issue.

I sent BT a tweet and they got the mods to sort it out.

The explanation  I received.

One of our mods has now verified it for you. Icloud emails can cause issues with this so they recommend updating it to a different email address if possible. However, you'll now be able to post.
