intermittent trouble with emails on iphone

Since the end of last year Email/internet has been a struggle.

2x last year, the latest being 21/12/2034 I requested help because of severe intermittent buffering on laptop and, according to icons on iphone, bad signal strength. The Diagnostic bot checked and refreshed my connection, and all seemed well, until two weeks ago. I should make it clear that while my laptop has suffered a far amount of buffering and drop outs (not completely acceptable) emails have been arriving as they should. My 3yr old iphone, which to date I have had no problem with, is the email nightmare. 

On opening the app at the bottom of the page can be the message 'mail.internet.com not responding. Check account information in Mail. Access denied'. I have checked; time and time again to find that all seems ok. 

In the last few days this has been happening on iphone:

Sunday 5/1/25  usual message, access denied. Details Checked. laptop fine. Deleted BT and re-added. All OK

Monday 6/1/25  All OK until later in the evening. Access denied. Laptop OK. Updated iphone overnight.

Tuesday 7/1/25 All working OK

Wednesday 8/1/25  All OK,

Thursday 9/1/25 All OK first thing. Then; 10-15 Access Denied. Lots of buffering on laptop but emails ok. Did not do anything to iphone yet,12-55 all OK

Friday 10/1/25 Not working first thing. Last email being received at 3.46. Laptop buffering but emails OK showing additional 18 emails received . Didn't do anything to the iphone yet, 10.22 all OK. Internet dropped out 30secs 13,30 but all remained OK. 16.02 Access Denied on iphone (laptop OK) last email at 15.24.-8 emails not received.

17-03 All OK. Emails being received by iphone.

Doesn't make sense to me and I would appreciate some help. Thank you for reading.

Which email app are you using on your iPhone?

If it is the BTMail app I would suggest that you stop using that app and use another email app such as the one that came with the iPhone.

When the problem happens have you tried accessing your email account using a web browser to see if you can access it?

Does this happen when you are using 4/5g ?

Does this happen if you use are using a wireless connection?

I was using the mail app that came with the phone.

Have now tried the BT Mail one instead - contrary to reply, I know.

Over a number of days the original app continues to act up as in the first communication while the BT Mail - although it froze early on - remains the most reliable.

This does not take away from the fact that there appears to be an error with a server and as we are paying for what seems to be an unreliable product the problem should be sorted asap. I know I'm not the only sufferer and this is all wrong.

As I find the original app to be the one I prefer to work with, I will be logging what happens from now on, and if things do not improve will be contacting whoever for compensation.

You never answered the following questions I asked...

"When the problem happens have you tried accessing your email account using a web browser to see if you can access it?

Does this happen when you are using 4/5g ?

Does this happen if you use are using a wireless connection?"

As regards compensation, unless you are paying for a BT Premium email account I doubt you will get any compensation because BTMail is classed as a free add on to your Broadband package and is not a chargeable item and is not guaranteed to be a fault free service.
