Evening all
There have been lots of questions on MS Outlook and the dreaded "winmail.dat" but this query is directed more at BT.
I had no problems with either MS Outlook or BT Web Mail until just before Christmas, when attachments and calendar invites started arriving from my office account as "winmail.dat" and not PDF's, Word docs etc.
First point; all accounts are using HTML, not RTF.
I have two @btopenworld.com accounts; one receives attachments correctly, one doesn't. Both have the same settings???
At present Microsoft community also looking at this but recent events:
On Friday I sent 4Nr calendar invites from work to home account (@btopenworld.com); 2nr came through correctly, 2Nr came through as "winmail.dat"! Why???
However I tried something tonight with the account that isn't working correctly:
These errors are also occurring in Webmail, so you can't blame MS Outlook.
Can someone please tell me what's going on here and why this has suddenly stopped working properly?
Thanks
Anybody able to assist with this issue?
Thanks
No idea, but if everything works ok using @btinternet, why use @btopenworld?
Hi licquorice
Mainly because all friends, family and contacts use the @btopenworld.com address.
It was only a test that I tried using the @btinternet.com that proved it worked.
I would like to understand why it's worked for many, many years and just started in the last two months.
Thanks
No further comments / assistance from anyone?
Thanks
Alan
