Re: Are BT emails down

Lots of articles about the outage in the press now, some mentioning the BT price increases coming soon.

Some also mentioning the ASA ruling.

"In October last year, UK's advertising watchdog cracked down on six major broadband providers, including BT, EE, and Virgin Media, for failing to clearly inform customers about mid-contract price hikes.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that the companies had misled consumers by burying important information about price increases in small print on their websites, rather than displaying it prominently alongside headline prices."

I hope BT aren't relying on email to inform customers of price hikes.

Re: Are BT emails down

I just skimmed thru the thread and found that if you turn off WiFi and use mobile data your emails come thru… now have over a 100 to sift thru 🫣

You can only check service status if you have a landline

You do not have to check the Service Status. The BTMail information is displayed on that page without having to enter anything as can clearly be seen in if you care to check the web page.

OK, outages happen and I'm glad to know it isn't just me but if this becomes a long term issue, and it has already been seven hours since the first reports on Downdetector , what do you think the chances are of BT knocking something off their next monthly bill?  You know, the bill that we receive each month for an email service. Yeah, that's right, zero chance.

Go on BT, if anyone there even bothers to read this forum or even cares, prove me wrong and compensate your customers for the inconvenience. Oh, and once you isolate and fix the cause, make sure that it can't happen again, please.

There will be no chance of BT knocking anything of your bill. Email is a free add on and is not charged for and as such they do not have to offer anything. As well as that, compensation for any broadband fault only starts if after two days from when the fault was reported by the user, it has not been fixed.

There may be a slim chance of compensation if you are a a paying BT Premium email customer but I suspect the two day rule will apply.
