Email linked to inactive account - moving to EE

I set up my btinternet.com email address some years ago. The  BT account  used to do so has been inactive for some time. I also have an active BT account.

When I log in to MyBT & click on ‘my products’, my email account shows, but under  the inactive account.  My current active BT account also shows within MyBT but with no products ?

How can I switch over my email so that it links to my active BT account ?

I’ve had no issues with access to my email to-date, but have just  moved broadband over to EE and am worried how  this might impact on my continuing use of my btinternet email address (& at no additional cost). I don’t want to change email address.

grateful for any advice.

Re: Email linked to inactive account - moving to EE

I'm afraid this 'solution' didn't address my email issue. In a call with BT I was told that what should happen when you move to EE is that an email transfer request is triggered so that the BT email is then linked to the EE account. But in my case this didn't happen as the BT account my email is linked to is inactive. The BT advisor said he would now action this by raising & completing the necessary form. This would take 3-5 wks days & I would be informed once done. I'm awaiting confirmation - 5 days will be up at the end of this week

Re: Email linked to inactive account - moving to EE

I suspect what you were told is not correct.

Unless things have recenty changed your BTMail account is managed through your BTID and your MyBT even although you are now a EE customer.

BT set up a no cost account for the email accounts so that they can be managed using the above method.

Re: Email linked to inactive account - moving to EE

Thanks for this . As all my former BT accounts are now inactive - as I have transferred over to EE - maybe it doesn't matter which BT account my email is linked to ?

Re: Email linked to inactive account - moving to EE

Were your BT email accounts in constant use before you moved to EE?

If they had not been accessed/used within a 150 day period they would would been deleted along with their contents.

Re: Email linked to inactive account - moving to EE

Thanks. My BT email address is/has been in constant use for the past 4 yrs + . My concern is that it was linked to an older inactive BT account - not the account I subsequently switched broadband over to EE. I can access both BT accounts using my BT ID. I had hoped that the explanation/solution proposed by the BT help desk would resolve this but I'm now more doubtful....
