Email not arriving

Go to solution

I am the holder of an account with BT.   I have the main email account and my wife has a subsidiary account (I am not sure what BT's terminology is - 'affiliate account', maybe?). This arrangement has worked well for some years. However, recently we have discovered that I cannot send mail to my wife's address (that is - I can send it, but it doesn't arrive). She receives email from elsewhere with no problem and she can send to me without any difficulties. Interestingly, my daughter also has a subsidiary account - and she cannot send to my wife's account either.

Here's some info:

What we have done so far:
Checked both our mail clients spam and junk folders
Checked both our mail clients for illicit or unknown mail rules
Tried messaging from different local clients (Outlook, The Bat, EM Client)
Tried messaging from the webmail interface (and also checked there for mail filters/black listing etc).
I have also tried to trace the progress of my email to her through the system using MX Toolbox, but this has not helped.

So, basically, anyone from outside of our own little eco-system can send to, and receive from, my wife, but anyone inside it cannot send to her. Is it possible that someone else has the same email address as her? I appreciate that it shouldn't be, but I am out of ideas otherwise. Can you help, please?

Re: Email not arriving

Check that she has not blocked the BT domain btinternet.com or your email addresses.

Log onto her BTMail account using a browser, not an email client/app, and then click on her username at the right hand side. Select "Settings" then go to the left hand side and select "Mail". Scroll down and click on "Blocked Senders". Scroll down the list looking for your email addresses and the BT domain btinternet.com.

If they are there select it. Click on the small "Trash" symbol at the right hand side. It will only delete the email address from the blocked senders list not your contacts list.

You should also add you and your daughter's email addresses to her "Safe Senders" list which you will fine in the same section as the "Blocked Senders."

Thanks for your prompt response.  I'll try that and see if it helps.

...and it did work!  The culprit was a blocked domain (btinternet.com) in the blocked senders list.  Everyone here, of course, denying all knowledge...
