My BT email has stopped working on iPhone and iPad Mail apps. It responds as if my logon details are not correct. I have not changed password or anything else. When I try BT mail apps and other apps they act as if my password is wrong. Any advice?

Are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?
If neither of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client or email app such as those on your devices.

Your email should still work if you use a web browser.
Many thanks for you reply. I have been a Broadband customer for years (although I changed my contract recently). I have had this account for over 20 years.
Strangeky, the iPad version seems to have started working again yesterday for a while and has stopped again. When I try the browser version it says I’m locked out for 20 minutes, as soon as I enter the password.
I’ve read some stuff on Perplexity about Apple’s software update causing problems but didn’t fully understand the scope of this and whether it is relevant. I’ve tried many of the remedies noted there, with no success.
Do you have the problem if you use your iPhone on the mobile 4/5g network?
To try and rule out the Apple devices are you able to try and access your email account on a non Apple device at a friend or family member's home or at your work?
Are you able to access your MyBT and go to "Your Products" > "Email, Manage" and check to see what the account type is showing. It should be "Standard" and your account should be showing as "Active".
Thanks 4G makes no difference. Then when I try to log onto My BT is says I have a BT ID and a BT email ID. When I thenI select to change the password on the latter it then says “no such BT ID exists”.
I then try to log into My BT on the iPhone and it reports “system error”.
i am on holiday now with only access to an iPad and iPhone but when the problem first started it was only on these devices - my PC access to the emai account by Outlook was fine.
Hi,
When logging into Webmail on my Android Smart phone, I got locked out for 20 minutes.
I convinced myself that if I pressed the keys on the keyboard for too long it used the alternative key, corrupting my password.
e.g if I press 'A' and keep my finger on the key for too long @ is typed.
I got locked out for 20 minutes.
So I found the setting to lengthen the time and I think this helped.
Here is how to adjust the setting on Android.
On the soft keyboard, I long pressed the ',' and you get three options. Settings is on the right. select preferences and I adjusted "Key long-press delay" to about 610ms.
Last year, I was testing a typing app on iOS.
The "Auto Correct" was "Auto-Corrupting" what I was typing, the faster I dabbed.
I got quite good at dabbing "I would like to order a pizza" repeatedly and could see if I dabbed too fast, the "Auto correct" corupted most of what I was trying to type.
If I dabbed slower, it was more accurate.
On iOS, when I turned off the "Auto Correct" the typing was much better.
So the app author added a disable "AutoType" option, just for the app.
