I was receiving emails on my imac and iphone, but I could not send emails from my iphone.
I tried what others have mentioned about rebooting the router and deleting the account which did not work. If it's working on your computer and you can receive but not send on your phone then the problem is not likely to be with the email provider but your phone.
The following worked for me:
Go to SETTINGS on you iphone.
Then APPS.
Then MAIL.
Then MAILS ACCOUNTS.
Then select the mail account.
Then ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
Then under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER click on what is says opposite SMTP. (for example mail.btinternet.com)
Then click on what is says under PRIMARY SERVER.
Then delete the PASSWORD & re enter it. click DONE.
Hopefully it worked.
Your answer was pointed out in the solution in message 4.
Are you refering to your message where you say the following:
It is probably a Bt server problem? (incorrect)
Do nothing....... it often resolves its self in a day or two. (incorrect)
Turn off your BT hub and leave it off for half an hour. (incorrect)
You should stop your iPhone and iPad and any other devices from checking for email. (incorrect)
Once you have done that, change your email password and check that you can access your email via webmail (on a browser). (Incorrect, the problem is not being able to send emails, if you can recieve them then changing the password it not the correct solution).
I could go on but what is the point? I wasted a lot of time following your advice. After speaking to BT in Darlington the matter was resolved in less that 3 minutes....... but thanks for your effots anyway.

Well who would have thought that setting the account up correctly would have worked!
It was set up and working correctly for years, it just stopped sending emails last week.
I put this up to help others.
Thanks for reminding me why I just shouldn’t have bothered.

It is probably a Bt server problem? (incorrect) So if you are so sure how do you know it was not a server problem. Please elaborate or at the least explain why the password did not work until it was either changed or re entered.
Do nothing....... it often resolves its self in a day or two. (incorrect) Again can you please elaborate on how you are so sure that at that time it would not resolve its self as there are numerous posts that state other wise.
Turn off your BT hub and leave it off for half an hour. (incorrect) Yet again please elaborate on your answer why it is incorrect!

The following worked for me: Which was pointed out in the message that was posted so I am glad that what was posted did help you and resolve your problem even if you can not recognise or understand what was posted!

Good to see your last sentence. At least that is accurate.
I really don’t care enough to argue with you life is far too short, I know what worked for me and your theory didn’t.
I only put this up to help others, I wish I hadn’t bothered. I will delete these posts soon. Goodbye. No need to reply.

And I really don't care to argue with you but I do know what I post worked for more than one person even if it did not work for you!
