I am having exactly the same problem as this person.  An email account was set up 15 odd years ago for my son.  He is now locked out of his account and is travelling abroad trying to sort it out.   BT support have told him that his account is linked to mine and that I need to set up 2 factor ID and then when he logs in it will send me a message with a code I can give to him.  I have set up 2 factor ID but when her tries to log in (or I do with his password), it just tells me I need to set up 2 factor ID.  I have tried disabling the 2 factor ID and managing his account through mine, but there is no reference to his account on my BTID, despite the fact that when he was locked out of his account for ‘suspicious activity’, i.e. being abroad, the system sent me an email saying the account was locked out.  My son needs his email account for the various travel arrangements he has made.  Can you please help, as you helped @coopz?
