Spam emails

I've recently started getting 100s of spam emails. 99% of them are automatically directed to the spam folder & I could periodically clear this but don't want to lose occasional genuine email that ends up there. I tried clicking Block Sender & Block Domain but BT must have a different interpretation of the word "block" because the emails still appear. Am I fighting an unwinnable battle now my email address is out there? I tried creating a new email address but without success. I'm thinking my best bet may be to abandon BT mail altogether & go with Gmail or Outlook instead.

Re: Spam emails

The sender and domain are spoofed, they are not coming from where they appear to be coming from. You need to look at the headers to see the true origin.

Re: Spam emails

Well if you take the time to read through the countless threads on this forum about email problems, it'll no doubt bore you to insanity.

I'm not sure what Gmail is like these days, but I binned them 5 years ago unhappy with the amount of data I believed was being harvested. As for Outlook, I have an Outlook email account because I need it because I use Windows OS. Otherwise I don't use it, but it receives loads of spam email which I have to block and delete. I've never even subscribed to the carp that is sent to me and my email Outlook address hasn't been compromised having carried out the usual checks.

My personal email account, I pay a subscription to every 2 years which I'm more than happy to do. Costs me around £33 a year, completely add free and I literally get zero spam. I think I've had one spam email this year which I reported and blocked, otherwise I'm happy with what I'm paying for. There are no doubt many BT customers who are entirely happy with their email account but I personally never used it, indeed I never even set a BT email account up.
