I have recently moved my broadband to EE and in the process my wife’s name to enable her discounts on mobile. I can no longer see e mail accounts on my .bt says I am not the account holder .
Will the e mail accounts pass over to my wife name ?
tried e mail support but have had confusing replies of who is the primary owner of broadband
I suspect that if the BT Broadband account was in your name and the new EE Broadband account is in your wife's name they will have been seen as two separate accounts.
Your old BT Broadband account will be ceased and the new EE Broadband account in your wife's name will be seen as a new customer and new broadband account and as such the email accounts from the BT account will not have been "carried" over to the EE account.
If what I suspect above has happened you should still be able to access your email account by logging onto the email accounts via a web browser using your BTMail address and password.
The email accounts will have been "downgraded" to BTMail Basic accounts which can only be accessed by a web browser and not an email client or email apps.
If you log onto your MyBT and go to "Your Products" then "Email, Manage" at the top of the page it should show the email account type: If it is showing as Basic that will confirm what I have said above.
If it is showing as "standard" it means that your email account is still as it was prior to your change of provider.
If there is nothing there or you can not log in your MyBT and if they were transferred to your wife, she would need to have a BTID and MyBT in order to access them. Obviously I have no idea if she has a BTID and MyBT.
She would need set one up but I have no idea how she would go about that without a current BT Broadband account.
Either way you will need to contact EE and ask them to clarify if they have had the email accounts transferred to your wife's EE Broadband and if they have not you will need to ask they can do it now.
It is possible but I have no idea if EE will be able to do it or if as I suspect, BT will need to do it because it is on their system. It is as far as I am aware only a "billing" change where they mark the account as "Standard" instead of "Basic".
It may be that they both will flatly refuse because of your wife's account being a new account and not a "transferred" account.
See this link regarding what should have happened with the email accounts if the BT Broadband account was transferred to the EE Broadband account.
Please keep this thread updated with how you get on.
@Buzzawrote:
The move was done under a working line take over but unfortunately it did need a new EE account number. At the moment our e mail still works on the apps so can only assume they have been transferred.
I think they don’t cease any e mail accounts these days or am I incorrect
Your BTMail will continue to work when you leave/cease BT Broadband as I pointed out in my previous post:
"The email accounts will have been "downgraded" to BTMail Basic accounts which can only be accessed by a web browser and not an email client or email apps."

Thanks
as I said previously they are working on mail apps on our I phones so can only assume they haven’t been downgraded and still standard working on perhaps the wife’s EE accout. Don’t know who best to ring to check as I have tried and had many different answers . Billing or Broadband ? EE or Bt or are they one of the same
Just because they are presently working on email apps it does not mean that this will not stop in the future if they have not been marked as a "Standard" account.
As I said, the best way to check is to log onto your MyBT or if your wife has one onto her MyBT and check under "Your Products" > "Email Manage".
If you can not access MyBT you will need to call BT in order to get access other wise you will not be able to manage the BTMail accounts.
You would need to call BT 0330.1234.150 and ask for the email team in order to get them to confirm the email accounts type.
i can access.mybt but have a warning message that
Says I am not the registered billing account holder so can’t go any further .
So I don’t know if my wife could access my account or any other my bt as the registered billing holder
thanks for your prompt and excellent replies
