Alternative to 61998

https://bt.com/DVequipment tells me I need to text 61998 to order a new digital voice handset, with no alternative method provided.

But my mobile network operator doesn't support SMS shortcodes. Is there an alternative "long"  number I can text?

I can't see how this works unless you have a BT Mobile, there is nothing to associate your details to the text.

Thanks, but spending an hour on hold is an unappealing alternative to sending a quick SMS.

I have rung 150 twicw recently and it has been answered very promptly so I can't understand what you mean by an hour.

Re: Alternative to 61998

I mean I  was on hold for nearly an hour last time I called, though to be fair that was to the FTTP 0800 number not 150, and I may have been unlucky.
