BT2200 Additional handset question

Hi

We have a BT2200 cordless phone consisting of 1 base unit and 1 additional handset. We would like to buy an additional handset to put in our kitchen. We cannot find anywhere we can buy just a phone with charger ( other than ebay or another place where you have to buy phone/charger/power adapter seperately - resulting in big cost.) However we can buy a single BT2200 phone from Argos (at reasonable price)  but this comes with another base unit. My question is - if we just plug the power adapter in to the base and not the phoneline cable. Would the phone work, if we register it with our existing base unit ? Would the new base act as a charger only and the base not disrupt any signals.

Any input would be great

Colin

Why do you need 2 chargers? Just rotate the handsets in the base station as required.

Re: BT2200 Additional handset question

Yes it would work as you wish, although you may have to deregister it first.

Or as @licquorice suggests, just keep one handset off of charge & swap them around as charge depletes. This will likely prolong the life of the batteries as they really don't like being permanently charged with little use. But will require some discipline to remember to charge them before you go to answer a call & the phone dies!

A more convoluted option would be to buy another duo set, keep the additional handset you desire & sell the base. But given the low cost anyway, may not be viable.

Re: BT2200 Additional handset question

Many thanks for suggestions. I think we will buy another handset and base from Argos and try deregistering it and see if there are any problems after registering with our existing base. If for some reason it does not work ok , we can as suggested, use an existing charger to give the handset a battery boost .

Thanks
