Can I use a BT3880 on a digital land line
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes. Just plug the base station into the green socket at the rear of the hub instead of the wall socket.
This is the problem. We have recently switched from Virgin Broadband to EE broadband and the BT3880 will not work whereas it worked fine on Virgin. Over the last month I have spoken to four customer service reps from BT (who own EE) and they have failed miserably to rectify the problem .
The latest rep has tried to tell me the BT3880 is incompatible with a digital land line and I have been told to buy a new phone from Argos as all the Argos phones are suitable for a digital land line.
I think I will be wasting my time (and £45) buying a new phone and your reply seems to agree with this.
My main problem is that BT refuse to send anyone to the house to check on the installation and simply insist it is done via the help line.
as you are changing from different systems virgin to EE (openreach) have you tried a factory reset of your phone not just a switch off and on and see if phone will then connect
I am afraid I don’t know how to do that.
I have opened the BT3880 manual but cannot see what to do, but there are 50+ pages.
One website said press the ok button on the handset but there isn’t an ok button that I can see???
manual page 41
Reset the handset or base settings
1. Press , scroll to DEFAULT
and press .
2. PIN?---- is displayed, enter the 4
digit PIN and press .
3. CONFIRM? is displayed, press .
You will hear a confirmation tone.
I have followed your instructions but I do not know the PIN and cannot fill in this field
did you try the normal default 0000
0000 did the job but the phone is still not responding.
Are you sure you have Digital Voice?
Does the hub manager show your phone number or say not configured?
The rep was talking absolute nonsense.
ANY phone is compatible with BT Digital Voice, the BT hub has a built in ATA.
