Can an internal BT cable be hidden behind plasterboard?

We are refurbishing and want to know if the internal cable to the master socket can be hidden, like electrical cabling, behind plasterboard.

it currently goes over the garage roof and through a drilled hole, then surface mounted before disappearing into the house, through the cavity wall to a master socket by the TV.

we simply want to re route and hide the cable where possible.  

is this possible?

As long as you do not damage the cable, for which you would need to pay the repair cost, you can re route/hide the cable.

Thanks for the quick response. If the cable needs replacement in the future by BT I assume they’d jus have to find an alternative route?

That's correct. They do not keep records of how each property had its cables routed so they would be none the wiser about who or when or how the cable was routed.
