It is possible to order a telephone adaptor FOC from BT. This can be plugged in to any power socket near to any telephone. You can order additional ones. Their most recent information states;

 'You can order either one adapter or a Digital Voice home phone free of charge from bt.com/DVequipment or TEXT the word ADAPTER or HANDSET to 61998'.

If ordered online ensure that all the web browser's ad blocking apps are disabled before writing your landline number in the box or it will not work.

your information is out of date and BT no longer supply a free DV phone.  they do still provide only 1 DV adapter free
