I have recontract Ed my broadband and landline. Was surprised that an engineers has been hooked to set it up. Is it because I am elderly? I was getting a bit anxious of having to set it up myself. Thanks
I assume you mean that you are now with EE?
They have their own user forum here https://community.ee.co.uk/
That`s fine, stay on this forum.
Are you sure its to setup Digital Voice? Do you already have BT Broadband?
It would not be an engineer, it would be a technician.
If FTTP is available and you are on FTTC/ADSL , then recontracting will also include moving you on to FTTP , so the engineer visit may be for that , a visit isn’t needed for a conversion to DV .
Engineers usually work in offices, and have degrees. BT employ Field Technicians, and some third party technicians who help customers set things up. One of those would be visiting, and should show their ID.
If you are recontracting then it’s obvious you must already have BT Broadband , otherwise you would not be recontracting , the question is what type of BT broadband you currently have, ADSL, FTTC or already on FTTP , if you have ADSL or FTTC on a copper pair , and are now getting ‘full fibre’ ( FTTP ) then that’s the reason for the engineer visit , once FTTP is available , recontract or moving to a new provider is the opportunity to move you onto this new network .
