Does the engineer test number 17070 still work if the PSTN line being tested has been transferred to PDPL at the local exchange?
Any reason for asking ? , I dare say the number of pre digital phone lines is still pretty small , and as it is comprised of phone only customers, the chance of someone being here on this forum ( with internet access from another source other than their ‘landline’ ) trying 17070 and confirming it works ( or not ) is slim .
FWIW , I suspect it will provide some functionality , as 17070 does with Digital Voice , although different in that it will still present -50v DC to line .
@PBXiT - I've just been moved to PDPL and can confirm that 17070 works as before: circuit definition, ringback test and quiet line test. No idea about fast test/fast cleanse, as those options are only accessible to Openreach engineers.
What doesn't work as before is 150 (BT customer services). After the "Welcome to BT" announcement, the four menu options have disappeared and I'm now transferred immediately to a "guide". Most annoying when all you want is to self-serve. My parents, served by the same exchange but still on PSTN, still have the menu options on 150. Weird!
I can still access bill information by ringing the old 'Call My Bill' number (0800 854608), but that stopped revealing call charges towards your next bill a long time ago and is therefore far less useful than it was. It now just tells you if you have a bill to pay or not and, if so, how much this is. Option 2 of 0800 44 33 11 ("for current call charges or any outstanding balance") no longer does this, either.
@iniltous The reason for asking is that I am carrying out an analogue line audit for a client who is unsure if PDPL has been enabled or not. The increase in billing costs would suggest it has but no response from account managers.
I'm interested why you would not expect me on this forum, especially when PDPL has been offered to phone lines carrying critical services for clients with 500+ lines? Confused as to your response.
