FTTP and Digital Voice: can I now disconnect my Master Socket?

Go to solution

Hi all,

I have had FTTP installed for the last 12 months, and was recently switched to Digital Voice.  My understanding is that this means that the Master Socket is no longer in use, so can I disconnect it myself?  Or would I have to wait until BT no longer sell copper lines in my area?  The copper comes into the house through the edge of a window pane and down the middle of the wall and looks a bit unsightly.  (The new fibre cable comes into the house elsewhere.)

Thank you in advance for any advice.

@Benjinaldo

You should be able to remove any internal wiring as that is no longer needed.  If the line comes in overhead, you would not be able to remove the copper dropwire.
