Fictitious Caller Display

Hello,  Why is it that companies(mainly) are able to advise an incorrect Caller Display no..  I've had today 3 calls from 020 2XXX XXX  which for a London no. are all missing a digit. I suspect it is the same company on a sales or scam call. My personal salutation says calls are being screened please leave a message, but of course they never do. anyone got any thoughts?

Re: Fictitious Caller Display

Scammers will "spoof" telephone numbers and they will not be using landlines. It will be "Internet" calls. This is so that they can not be traced.
