Help with the switch to digital phone

Hi there

i look after an elderly couple (both 93 years old ) who don’t have broadband and don’t wish to have it to plug their phone into.

Can they keep their line without switching to digital? It’s just too much stress for them.

Is this possible and do I have to call someone to arrange this for them?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help with the switch to digital phone

You don't have to do anything, it will be switched to a form of Digital Voice that is transparent to the end user.

Re: Help with the switch to digital phone

As stated , you don’t need to do anything , telephone only customers with BT (not a BT type line , but actually using BT as their provider) are converted to a PDPL line , but the work is done entirely within the exchange, nothing changes at the customer end , no changes to sockets , no router needed to plug the phone into , they continue pretty much as  they do now , there is one potential minor change .

If they don’t currently need to use the full national number to call locally, they will need to do so after converting to PDPL , depending on whereabouts in the country this may have been necessary anyway.

They get a notification of when this conversion is to take place and are told to expect a few hours downtime during this changeover .

Really?

That’s great news. It will save me a lot of stress and them. So I’ll just leave it alone.

Thank you for your reply 😊

Thank you so much!

It’s not very clear to me.
