Hi, I have recently taken back possession of my old house, I used to have a working phone and broadband there but I can't get any line tone when I plug in a phone. The house was rented for about 5 years and I have recently been informed that a tree fell on the physical line a few months ago and I'm not sure if it is reconnected. How do I find out if there is an active line as I don't have any of the details from the previous tenants?
You don't need to know. If you wish to have a broadband/phone service from BT, just order it and whatever us required to provide the service will be carried out.
