No contact over fault.

Hi, I reported a fault with my landline a few days ago.

The fault is with my landline. I can't make or receive calls. The phone will appear to ring from an outside line and will ring the phone once and when we answer it there is nothing. 

We have had several attempted calls a day since my making the fault known and wondered if this be BT trying to contact us? I have my mobile as point of contact obviously as the landline won't work!

Also I have made sure my email address is correct and I have nothing from BT on there either.

Have tried to call (from mobile) and just can not get through.

Is this normal to have no contact from them?

If you login to MyBT, you should be able to see the progress of your fault.

I assume its a normal copper phone line, with your phone plugged it the socket on the wall, and you are not on BT Digital Voice?

When did you report it, and when is the estimated date for repair, that should be shown on MyBT when you track your fault.

It was reported on the 4th Feb and estimated date for repair is the 10th Feb.
It's just the fact I have had no contact about what's happening and if/or an engineer is coming out or what?

Most faults are external, assuming you have already tried another phone in the test socket.

A visit is often not needed unless the fault in on a section of the external network which is in your property. If a visit is needed by Openreach, then you would normally receive a text advising you that a visit needs to be made.

Otherwise, you may not hear anything until the fault is cleared.

Thank you for the info.
I have tested the phone and it is working as is a second corded phone that I also tried in the test socket.
Hopefully it is just a mini issue and is resolved soon.

So there is no dial tone on either phone, when plugged into the test socket?

What is actually working?

If the phone is working OK in the test socket , then the service is OK, if the phone  doesn’t work when you reassemble the master socket and plug the phone into the ‘regular’  socket , then it could be the faceplate itself,  especially if it’s an interstitial faceplate that replaces a broadband filter ,   ( assuming you have broadband ) and neither  your ISP or Openreach are responsible for that, .and an in these you circumstances runs the risk of charges being raised for an unnecessary ( from OR’s point of view) visit.

That's right. No dial tone on any phone plugged into the test socket.
Broadband is working ok, just the phone.
