Do you mean without the face plate?
I can only assume the Engineer did this, I haven't checked it this time but have previously, numerous times. Over the past 14 months the wiring in the house has been checked, numerous times. With and without the face plate. The socket is in good condition and was replaced about 6 months ago.
The Engineer that visited 6 months ago said there was a fault in the wiring outside, neatened up the wiring and this fixed the issue for a month or so then it slowly came back. The engineer that came a couple of days ago said there was a blip somewhere outside but could not find the problem.
The fault is not in the wiring inside the house it's with the ancient wiring outside.
I'm still waiting to see where we go now as this still needs sorting!
I'm not happy paying for a phone line that is virtually unusable and a declining internet connection.

Just picked up the phone to check messages and the connection dropped. From a connection that was roughly 42/6.8MBps I now have. . . .
The wife just picked up the phone to ring her mum and the internet has dropped again.
That makes 5 times in the past 24 hours!
The fault is still open on BT fault tracker but nobody seems to be taking any further action.
Here's a reminder of what I have to put up with, along with an internet connection that is reliant upon the level of precipitation and wind direction 😶

I now realise why my fault which was still open on 23rd June was then miraculously fixed on the 8th June 5 days later!

if your connection drops when you pick up the phone to make a call then first thing to check is that problem is not an extension socket causing problems to do that you need to connect a filter to the test socket and then hub and phone to filter and see if the broadband still drops when making a call if yes then you need engineer as problem outside your home but if broadband remains ok then there is a problem with your internal wiring and would be chargeable on engineer visit

Please read my previous posts. It's been well established the fault is not in the wiring inside my home. The socket and wiring has been tested numerous times and the socket replaced. We just can't get an engineer with the knowledge and equipment to isolate and fix the fault.

I just looked at my original post and it's now been over 18 months with this same old recurring problem.

What's worse is BT/Openreach have less clue as to the root cause now than they did to start with

Interesting stuff ... But did you know that BT sells power off of the connections from the box to other so called fibre suppliers ?
Now ... If as a result of lowering your incoming voltages to below a certain point your phone line and broadband will become useless... If your property is fed by a pole outside your house, and say another provider (like AirBand for instance) come alone and tap into that old system the current on said system will drop...
Our phone lines contain power that is used to power our telephones, the type of power used is called P.WM (pulse width modulation) so pulses of power can be sent over a very long distance, if this fall's outside of a permitted range, the line and the systems (eg broadband, and dial tone will also fail)... (Broadband uses the F.M frequencys to transmit and receive signals)...
So... Why is all this important... ?
So ... Loss of voltage = current goes up... But the overall signal gets slewed (not a clean signal) broadband goes on and off and phonelined die when you shout into them... Because the system doesn't have enough to keep it all going...
But why is that important... As speeds increase so does the impact of reverse signalling being fed back onto the phonelines, thus generating patches on no signalling ...
You see BT own everything ... Wheathier it's talk talk, or post office or anything else they own the the copper /CCA cabling and all it connects to... Its only at the main switch that the individual companys have Thier own equipment...
Important notes are that these other companies don't have control over the rest of the network...
Your tire internet speed will always be capped at around 6.6mbps and your connection speeds are over 67mbps.. it's all just **bleep**... Because if you know about electronics and computing there is no way on hell your computer will be able to connect with those speeds using the multi transmission system... At this time using those systems...
Way back in 2004 I was getting a better connection than I am now due to this problem that BT have allowed to happen on the network... 3.3mbps @@3.4mbps cconnection, so I'll let you be the judge of it...
