Smart Hub 2 as Access Point for DV?

I would never use a SH2 as a router so thinking about how DV can be implemented when the time comes. Anyone doing this or know of a reason why it wouldn't work? I'm assuming (maybe rashly) that SH2 WiFi can be turned off without also killing DECT?

You need to connect SH2 to ONT for FTTP or to socket for FTTC to use DV but you can turn off the SH2 WiFi without affecting the dect

You can try it and see what happen. Disable WiFi and DHCP on SH2. Put another router on your LAN and see how you go. There could be issues if you try and access internet security cameras and that sort of stuff. It might be ok.

If that's the case then I'll be forced to another supplier.

@Tom20001

Can't quote you for some reason. Post above yours suggests it's not possible & trying it isn't an option as I don't have it. Can't see any reason why cameras or anything else would be affected though? Nothing would be connected to the SH2 part from the DECT connection. But all moot if DV can only use an Internet connection from the SH2.

DV can only be used in conjunction with SH2. That is a given.  You may gain satisfaction by incorporating another router on the LAN. Personally I have found BT routers completely satisfactory.

Just to clarify, for DV the SH2 needs to be connected directly to the ONT. You can however turn off DHCP and WiFi on the SH2 and connect a third party router WAN port to an SH2 LAN port. You will be double natting but that is not really a problem.

WAN if you want to use it as router. If you use the SH2 as the router and the second device as a WAP, then LAN.
