VOIP PHONE & CORDLESS

We have just gone from analogue phone to the new VOIP fibre phone.  Base station works fine but our three cordless phones have ceased to work -- do we need to buy new phones -- can you buy a base and cordless that will all work together ?

Re: VOIP PHONE & CORDLESS

Struggling to understand your problem, you say the base station works but not the handsets, that doesn't make sense.

Are you a residential user or business? The 2 have totally different voice systems.

residential.  the base station works fine but 3 cordless phones no longer seem to speak to the base and hence useless

Re: VOIP PHONE & CORDLESS

I'm failing to understand how you know the base station is working if you can't connect to it with the handsets.

The connection between the base station and handsets is entirely independent of how you phone service is delivered.

Have you plugged the base station into the green socket at the rear of the hub?

Are you sure your digital voice service has been activated?

Does your phone number appear in the hub manager or does it show 'not configured'?

yes all plugged in and working to make a call from the base - altho the ring on the base is now mouse like -- I suspect it just means buying a VOIP phone -- thanks vm for your help

@arturo-roger

The BT phones use DECT to connect to the hub, so not really true VOIP phones, so a normal VOIP would not work. BT Business use true VOIP phones.

Check the base volume setting, as it may have been turned down.

Re: VOIP PHONE & CORDLESS

No it doesn't, mean you have to buy a VoIP phone.

Your phone system hasn't changed. All that has changed is where you plug your phone in.

I'm still struggling to understand the concept of making a call from a cordless base station.

Re: VOIP PHONE & CORDLESS

we had (and still have) a base with three cordless spread around the house - we can now make calls from the base.  The cordless phones now no longer functional -- I think we have to buy a phone that will connect properly with the new

BT fibre line -- sorry if not being clear

Re: VOIP PHONE & CORDLESS

It’s still not clear how you have determined that your pre-existing base unit ( now connected to the BT Hub ) is working , if it’s handsets that came with it don’t work …how can it be plugged in and working to make calls from the base , but the three cordless handsets don’t work , unless you have some odd system where the base unit has a wired handset ( that works ) but the 3 cordless handsets don’t ( personally never seen  a cordless DECT system , that has 1 corded phone and multiple cordless phones ) .
