Re: change over to digital voice

I seem to recall mine went through by midnight the same day, but it's been about four years now so I might be mistaken.

I take it you're aware that the phone now has to plug into the green phone socket on the back of the Smart Hub 2 and not the wall socket?

"How long after the engineers site visit to change from copper wire to digital voice"

Assuming you're not also being upgraded from Fibre to the Cabinet to Fibre to the Premises at the same time as your migration to Digital Voice, then changing your phone service to digital voice does NOT require any engineer visit. It is all done at the exchange, and digital voice comes to you over the same copper wire that the analogue phone service did.
You'll know it has taken place when your phone, plugged into the wall socket, loses its dial tone. You then remove the cable from the wall socket and plug it into the green socket on the back of your SmartHub 2 (or 3). You'll then get an "interrupted" dial tone which tells you there's a message on your free voicemail. Key 1571 to listen to this - it'll be BT's "Welcome to Digital Voice" message. After that your dial tone will revert to normal.
