An old thread, but let me add my thanks to the expert contributors. I am in same position, draytek 2862 because I need/want vlans, multiple ssids, drive Draytek APs in the loft, etc, and have a fixed wireless WAN2 port, with adsl backup (and ptsn phone).
Bt sent me a sh2, plan to inflict digital voice. I am 2+miles from exchange, with no fibre except sheep wool within miles, and voip experiments (secondary throw away number) have been dire.
Looks like the only way to use the sh2 for backup Internet means rewiring WAN2 port to the sh2, or else telling the 2862 (it's an ac model) to use WAN2 as bridged wireless wan, either wayi lose my fixed wireless WAN2 connection, so the backup is now a manual changeover. Maybe I need a draytek with 3 wan ports, or..... I actually have a spare 2862 (end of life, ebay job) if that helps.
Don't mention 4g modems.. Have to go up the field and pray tiwards North to get a 4g connection. No game in town except bt.
