123 & 118 call barring. Bar calls to 123 and numbers beginning 118 for the Speaking Clock and Directory Enquiries

Although this post is 3 years old finding out how to block calls to 123 (The Talking Clock), for free, is still hard to find. Google finds this original thread when you search for a solution. Each call costs 50p and old folk I know with dementia ring it constantly to find the right time. They still believe that calls to "Tim" are free. I am told that most staff in BT believe there is no free solution, hence my post. It was reported a few years ago that there are "30 million calls a year" to the speaking clock and I would bet a lot of those are from customers with dementia and those unaware that BT earn £15 million pounds a year from the calls.
