3rd party router

I have just purchased a 3rd partyt router and i am looking to use it. I have it plugged into my smart hub but as far as i know it doesnt have a bridge mode and i dont know if simply plugging the third party router in will lead the smart hub to act as a modem only. Any help?

Re: 3rd party router

You can not use the Smarthub as a modem only. You will need to get a VDSL modem or a VDSL modem/router and replace the Smarthub.

Re: 3rd party router

Okay thankyou. At the moment i have it plugged into the smart hub and it is letting me connect devices to it and i am able to see the badnwidth usage etc etc, what function is the router serving at the moment then? Is it simply just re-iterating the function of the smart hub? (idk how i would describe other than re-iterate sorry :/)

Re: 3rd party router

Depends how you have connected the devices together. If LAN to WAN, then both devices will be routing and natting. If LAN to LAN, then the second device will just be acting as an Ethernet switch and wireless access point with the  only the hub routing and natting
