Advice on Smarthub 2, black disks and Sky

Go to solution

After problems with our BT broadband and WiFi a BT manager suggested we switch to the Smarthub 2 and black WiFi disks.

When we set up Sky Q I remember the advice being to split the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies on BT HH router and I’ve read that the new Smarthub 2 can’t split these WiFi frequencies.

Can anyone advise if the Smarthub 2 and black whole home WiFi disks will work with Sky Q?  We don’t have Sky broadband and use BT.

Also, will the Smarthub 2 not splitting frequencies cause problems with other home WiFi connected devices?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi @Rotarua674 ,

Only the Sky router connects to Sky Q at 5Ghz, with any other router you have to use 2.4Ghz.

Suggest you check things like this on the Sky forum, here :- https://helpforum.sky.com/

I’ve got the BT SmartHub 2 and two black Complete WiFi discs and Sky Q. Everything works a charm. I have turned off Smart Setup on the hub as some report that can cause problems if left enabled.
