Android and BT Smart Hub - Not Connecting

Hi

Have problems with, seemingly primarily, Samsung based Android devices connecting to HH5; they can see the SSID but just loop on connecting with no error message. If I enter the wrong password I'm given a error stating password is wrong but no error if I enter it correctly.

Affects a wide variety of Sumsung android devices (and also a Moto phone).

I've tried:

  1. Dual 2.4 and 5ghz SSID (same issue)
  2. Disabling Smart Setup (same issue)
  3. Factory resetting the HH, then trying the above two actions (same issue)

Very frustrating - any advice please?!

Re: Android and BT HH 5

Welcome to this user forum.

I assume you have given the 2.4 and 5G SSID separate names, and only added the 2.4GHz network to the devices?

If you add both SSIDs to the devices, then it will give problems, as the phone will not be able to decide which on to connect to.

You could alway try turning off the 5GHz wireless on the hom hub, and seeing if everything can connect to just the 2.4GHz, as 5GHz wireless is only short range, and no real advantage on mobile devices.

Re: Android and BT HH 5

Thanks for quick reply

"I assume you have given the 2.4 an 5G SSID separate names, and only added the 2.4GHz network to the devices?"

Correct - both test devices could only see the 2.4ghz SSID (and don't get me started on the weird imposed naming convention of the 5ghz by the HH!)

"You could alway try turning off the 5GHz wireless, and seeing if everything can connect to just the 2.4GHz, as 5GHz wireless is only short range, and no real advantage on mobile devices."

Sorry - should have said. Exact same behavour as the main problem - can see the SSID but won't connect whilst Apple devices/laptops etc connect perfectly.

Re: Android and BT HH 5

Have you tried a different wireless mode on the HH5, as I think there is a choice?

Edit, I notice that you cannot do that on the HH5, so you are stuck.

Apart from changing the HH5 to a HH6, or buying your own router (£40), then I cannot suggest anything else, as there must be a compatibility issue.

Re: Android and BT HH 5

I have samsung mobiles in my home and both have ability to connect to 2.4/5ghz networks and have no problems  the 5ghz network is best as fastest especially when downloading a firmware update

You must have a smart hub, as that option is not available on the HH5.

Re: Android and BT HH 5

@imjolly has no problems, so try deleting all of the stored wireless settings on the Samsung devices, and then rescanning for the wireless again, and then try to connect.
