I’ve recently upgraded to a Home Hub 2 and full fibre but more than one Apple device is giving a privacy warning that “The network is blocking encrypted DNS traffic”.
When I look at the wi-fi network settings on my Windows 11 Desktop it shows, with an IP address obviously;
IPv4 DNS servers xxx.xxx.x.xxx (unencrypted)
This seems to suggest the Apple warning could be valid so I’m looking for any BT guidance/help on whether the BT Home Hub 2 is set up correctly ?
Thanks in advance, Ian
Hi @I_W Is your Smart Hub 2 running the latest firmware? v0.30.01.08093-BT with the latest security fixes.
So this sounds like iOS now tries to resolve domains via DNS over HTTPS or known as DoH.
Of you have BT DNS based Parental Controls or BT Protect on this will try and create a DNS sink hole and hijack the DNS packets. It will also prevent you from trying to use another DNS nameserver. Make sure this is fully switched off on your MyBT account
Hi, yes it’s running that version of firmware.
I have had this too - forget the network on your iOS device and then rejoin. Fixed it for me...
